The Balvenie 12 Year Double Wood Whisky 70cl

£51.79

Double Wood edition from Balvenie and aged for 12 years, being transferred between traditional oak casks and first filled European oak sherry casks. On the nose the Balvenie 12 year old is sweet and fruity with Oloroso sherry notes and layers of honey and vanilla. The palate is smooth and mellow which beautifully combines flavours of nutty sweetness, cinnamon, spiciness and a delicately proportioned layer of sherry.

The Balvenie is located in the heart of Speyside. The Mains of Balvenie farm that surrounds the distillery provides us with home grown barley

DoubleWood 12 whisky was launched in 1993, using a process designed by Honorary Ambassador and Former Malt Master David C. Stewart in 1982, now commonly known as ‘wood finishing’.

First cask

Many years of maturation in traditional whisky casks mellows the maturating spirit and imparts warming layers of vanilla spiciness.

Second cask

Further maturation in European Oak Sherry casks increases complexity, bringing fruity, honeyed depths to the resulting Single Malt.

The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 single malt whisky gains its distinctive character from being matured in two different wood types. Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt whisky.
